In rural areas, bicycle is one of the major mode of local transportation. Vendors use bicycles for carrying goods viz., fish, poultry, fruits, vegetables etc., to the nearby markets. Tribal women vendors in rural areas also use bicycles for carrying goods. Other mode of transportation is not economical and due to bad road condition it is not accessible. RuTAG IIT Guwahati developed another version of the modified bicycle with a new frame design and carrying attachments. These cycle was field tested in various rural areas of Assam and Meghalaya. It can carry load of 200 kg in Gents model and upto 150 kg in Ladies model.
