Colour Dyeing Chamber

Heavy Duty Bicycle

The traditional method of dyeing pottery items which is hazardous. Pottery artisans from Meghalaya originally dyed the pottery items by dipping the hot pottery items into an open vessel. The pottery items were burnt in an open fire place by the artisans to increase the hardness property. Hot pottery items were then handled with tongs and they were directly dipped in the vessel. The hot fumes and hot droplets of the colour get direct contact with the artisans. RuTAG IIT Guwahati team developed a small colour dyeing chamber. The chamber can be operated mechanically designed with a simple lifting mechanism. Fabricated with easily available material and modular in nature. Capacity – 10 kg of pottery items can be coloured at one time.
